Swapped out my cam follower this morning it took no more than 30 mins to remove and reinstall.
This procedure is a MUST I repeat a MUST if you have no history of when it was last changed.
My tfsi has hit 100k and I had no history of when or if the follower had been changed
I contacted a few (we will keep them unnamed) vag specialist who quote me around the £200 mark to provide and install the follower.
Given the fact you only need the following tools I decided to give it ago myself
1x cam follower £37 from a dealer, part number 06D109390C
1x 13mm spanner
1x 17mm spanner
1x t30 torx screw
1x dirty old rag
15 mins later I had the old one out, see for yourself the difference
I doubt the one fitted was the original as all the screws etc came off without much resistance but never the less it certainly needed changing.
So well worth getting it done. The video below is a good guide as the bloke keeps it simple and the procedure on the leon is exactly the same as the Golf in the video
