Test driving a ibiza cupra 1.8T this weekend. Driven a m4 golf with that engine but never got the chance to have some real fun. I have dissed the engine on here before, but am getting bored of the derv, want sumat different. Any cupra owners give me any info on what there like to drive and if you have moved from the derv to the 1.8T? When do they boost and do you have to rev them, cus i'm used to the torque, but i realise theres only so much tuning you can do with the derv. regards rob

cupra will be quick turbo fully spooled about 3k rpm lots of low down torque pretty similar to a tdi in that respect but after 4k they go so well like to be reved as well

I think you should go Mk3, cars cheaper, tuning capability simlar plus seat were not as stingy then lol. so you get a boot light! And other goodies!

i would go mk4 FR 1.8T can pick up descent early ones for 6.5 to 7. The mk3's are due a big drop soon, due to the mk4's dropping so quick. seems silly going from a mk4 to a mk3.

Yeah you can pick up an FR Petrol for around the same price as a decent Mk3 cupra, But of course the Mk4 model has a Ko3s and i think VVT?? so the fella at stealth said anyway.

I went from a Mk4 to 3. Preffer the Mk3, it just feels less mass produced than the
4, feels like alot of thought went into the mk3 cupra and i've never felt that with any car i've owned before. :)

Lol

don't know what to do! i think i've got 2 defo rule out the mk4 cupra because of funds. I reckon i could get 6k at a push for mine so could defo stretch to FR1.8T. But then i've just seen a mk3 cupra for 4k with 60k on the clock. Really bored of the derv now lol, hate the way it delivers its power, well i should say waisting it, specaily in the wet lol. I know i have posted how happy with it i was. But seeing it for what it is now, it's dull as dish water.

No VAG engine has their version of VVT yet as far as I know. Audi will be the first to use a style of VVT in their engine but will be calling it valve lift!
