temperature gauge

sometimes when i start my car the temperature gauge stays at the bottom and the red light flashes!!!

and sometimes the gayge just doesnt work at all it just stays on zero even tho i have just drove 25miles
any1 got any advice ???

same thing happened to mine

It was the coolant sensor needing replaced

yeh the engine runs very hot when the gauge works it stays on 90
how much was the sensor matey???

about 25 quid for the sensor and about the same to get it fitted.

has your mpg been lower

yes i have got a thread on the go at the moment about my petrol!!! me dad could fit it lol!!!! does it affect the mpg then???

yeah it will make your engine over fuel as it thinks that its not warmed up yet so it puts in more and more fuel to try and get it up to the correct temp

sounds very like what was going on with mine

it took mine back to seat and they checked the faults on vag-com then fixed it straight away

you really got to get the fault codes read to no for sure.

could be a number of differant things but as your having problems with the temp gauge then i would say that its more than likely the coolant temp sensor.

exactly!!! u really should have done more research before spending money!

theres actually 2 sensors!

the most common one to go is the one inside the coolant bottle, which requires a whole new bottle not a sensor, the other sensor is on the pipes on the side of the engine

what was the original sensors prone to going wrong??
