Having had the temp sender on the block pack up,or so it seems,no gauge movement,it seems now the outside temp sensor has gone squiffy????

Given todays lovely driving conditions n consequent time sat in traffic i was toodling thru the mfa to see how long i'd been sat in the car n noticed the outside temp was registering -9,didn't think it was that cold!!

I thought in vain hope that maybe it was cos lotsa freezin cold puddles n splashiness but still the same after parked up on dry land....so seems i'll have something else to add to my gsf list...however does anyone know the correct part no or should i whip the old one out n take it with me.....i don't have muchos faith in the guys at my local one, went down about brakes n was told they need my brake codes as it was changeover year, regd jun 98, fair enough but what he did write down was brembo codes as 60195 yet Andyj told me 60175,think i know who i'd rather trust;);)

Anyway,as they charge a 25% restocking fee if it's bought in error i wanna make sure i get everything right...if they look it up on their system n for some reason balls it up,how do i prove twas them n not i???

This happened to me. The temp sensor was gone so i bought a new one to replace it and after replacing, the outside air temp reader sometimes reads -7,-9 etc.

If your talking bout replacing the temp sensor, its easy enough to take off and take to the shop to make sure they get the right part. Although most places should sell you the correct one just by looking it up.

And a word of advice, make sure the the car is totally cooled down before you take it out. Otherwise you'll have coolant gushing out like a fountain (speaks from experience) lol.

Ha,nice one Krish, why does replacing the block one screw the outside one then, not that it'll make any difference to me at the mo...will do em both,is the outside one under the bumper or something, iirc read that somewhere on here....just being lazy as the Haynes is in the boot n it's cacky weather out there to walk 12ft out to the drive!!!

It can wait til tomorrow when i have shoes on,no urgency as i have my own temp sensor that tells me it's friggin cold without having to check the mfa:p:p
