Hi all,

had this problem for a wile woth the temp gauge but ignored it and now its gotten colder is is more apparent. Basically, i do a ten mile drive to work everyday. Maily town driving and a bit of A-Road driving, and it takes aaaages for the temp gauge to rise and hit centre. When i drive from London to up by Manchester to fit my blueflame TB when criusing on the motorway it was a quarter of the way up, but the heater still blows hot air just fine. On the work drive it sometimes makes it to half way just as i get home.

Fuel economy is not amazing either, filled up 25quid and got about 130miles to a 3/4 tank. Are te problems related? Did a search a think it could be either the thermostat or the engone temp sensor.

Any ideas?

more than likely the thermostat, but i found with mine they both packed up! thermo and the sender.

or it could just be you have a cool running thermostat ?

you can tell if thermostat is working if you take it off. Should be closed IIRC, so if its open then its not working...meaning you will run lean. COuld be the other way round though lol, so wait for someone to confirm

I haven't looked at mine to check but the top radiator hose should lead to the thermostat housing. undo the housing, spill some coolant, check thermostat. don't forget to top your coolant back up afterwards.
