tdi150 FR decat and straight through

My exhaust bracket has just gone on my standard exhaust, and i have been playing with the idea of an aftermarket system for a while, soo a perfect excuse to now get one!

I have got a pd150 (arl) lump with a stage 1 remap, so it is currently sitting at 189bhp with 301ftlbs torque all on a standard car with only cosmetic mods done. I am thinking of just getting a 2.5" pipe straight through from cat back. (mufflerectomy is what i think its called). Does this see good gains and would it be beneficial to also change the downpipe so essentially decat the system with a straight through pipe from the turbo back.

Does anyone have any videos of a straight through all the way or just a mufflerectomy with the cat still in place? as i am a bit concerned it might be very droney on motorways or loud just on general driving! And is there much performance gains to adding the decat aswell as just the mufflerectomy?

Thanks

Theta mine with just the backbox removed and pipe welded on. Haven't got any videos under load but there's a few on here somewhere. Not droney at all on cruising but gives a bit of noise when on full boost (not loud, just noticeable and not standard sounding)

i have the same, it lowers the overall tone of the exhaust, bit beefier aswell as the sound of the turbo whiring, also you can hear the recirc valve alot more on throttle release.

Sounds alright! Thinking of doing the same to my tdi, but like Andy... i've been concerned about the noise as i do a lot of driving, plus the mrs would hate it..

..also, sorry its off topic, but if i change the rear bumper on my tdi (150) to a cupra r rear bumper.. would i need to change the backbox anyway? As im not sure if the arch in the bumper lines up with my current one.. the cupra r one looks a bit closer to the centre.. but maybe thats just me.

Well it's not noisier than standard by much at all. Under load and full boost you get a slightly deeper time but not a big increase in volume.

And as above with the bumper, backbox sits slightly further to the middle plus further out away from the car I believe. Change the bumper before hand and then go to a custom exhaust place and they can get it sat wherever you want

MOT is absolutely fine as long as the cat is still there.

Not sure about where in the midlands but any custom exhaust place will be able to do it.

Mine cost about £100 all in.
That's materials, welding and a choice of exhaust tip too.

I have just backbox delete and sounds good.. Wouldn't notice any difference on long run don't drone at all.. Don't go for decat and backbox delete as my m8 did it on his pd130 ibiza and it sounded way too loud lol..
