TDI Performance Upgrades.....Help!

Ok dudes. I've had my FR 150 for about a week now and I'm looking for performance upgrades.

I've already ordered some uprated 4-pot Brembos and some lovely drilled and grooved discs.

I was looking at a Revo/Jabba remap but I'm not sure what kind of power levels I can acheive without getting a FMIC. I take it the 150 doesn't have one?

Also, does the PD 150 have a Garrett Hybrid Turbo?

Sorry for my ignorance, but I'm learning.

Yes, the pd 150 has a FMIC standard.
the turbo ain't hybrid!! it's a VNT-17 by garret [or a KKK but then I don't know the model name] with stronger internals than the VNT-17 on the 130,,, but the shape is the same as a normal VNT-17, so no hybrid.

Hi
We can offer Custom-code.
Check out the web site www.custom-code.co.uk
This would give you a bhp of 180 and up the torque from 235lb/ft to 290lb/ft.
We do also have an offer on at the moment where you can have the Green Cotton Air Filter for free and a free Rolling Road printout after.

Had mine done at the weekend by the people with the link in my signature. reversible to stock via Vag Com, tuner claims 190-195 hp and around 290lb ft, limited to preserve clutch. The guy mapped my audi to 350+ hp and has done a great job on the SEAT, but gonna have to take it to a RR to find out what figures are exactly.

He mapped a 150 tdi to 204 hp which gave 155mph on the GPS, but that was at the owners' request - not for me as I need reliability/fuel economy. As it says on the website, anything VW/Audi group and even Porsche Turbos they can do, and he travels all over the world to remap cars, not just UK, and he can remap on the fly, in car, on the road as you drive, as we all know Rolling Roads aren't the most accurate of 'real world' driving conditions. Heh, free plug over.

It's lively in 1st and 2nd - you have to watch the throttle or it will torque steer all over the place, traction control cutting in and light flashing, and it's obviously worse in the wet in those 2 gears, but it pulls hard to 4500 in most gears (didn't get chance to test 6th!) and is easier to drive so that you don't need to drop down two gears anymore to get 'into the zone'. Be interesting to see how it compares to a Revo or Jabba mapped car, so I'll be keeping an eye out for RR meets on this and the UK Mk IV/V forum.

All the tuners seem to claim similar figures and I don't think I've seen any say "We are better than them" etc, so it's down to where you are, personal choice and cost.

First - Star performance are good guys to deal with. Used their rolling road, very friendly, professional, you'll get a decent job done there, but it's a bit of a trek if you live in England so figure in the cost of a tank and a half of juice to get there and back.

MRC tuning has been around for a while - any Audi S2 with any decent power across Europe (www.s2forum.com) has *probably* been tuned by the 'MRC' guy, so near enough all of the guys on the S2 forum know him, and I dare say on the RS246 forum too. At the moment they are setting up premises in the UK - Rolling Road etc, but that's taking time, so till then they are touring about, remapping cars several at a time. There were about 8 or 9 cars there when I had mine done on Saturday (met up at one of the guys' houses, there were like 6-7 Audis outside, my Seat, a Clio, a Lupo GTi, Golf Mk2 1.8T, sort of a car lot!) so right now it's not ideal, but at least they show willing by coming to you.

They remapped my Audi for me when I had it (somewhere between 350 and 400hp - the full boost never came in on the Rolling road, but was fine out on the street @2 bar) so did mine for a 'special' price. Best thing to do is email/call and find out what they can do (I don't work for them, I just know they are great at what they do, friendly, and they all have tuned cars themselves. One of them has a 1.8T golf tuned from 150hp to 225hp and 258lb ft or thereabouts, and a very very fast Audi S2, another has Audi S4 etc).

Right now MRC are 'based' in Scotland from one of the guys' houses until the Rolling Road/Premises thing can be sorted out. Like I say, they've been around for years, but they do their own mapping specifically for each car dependent on Mods, and have recently decided to go down the Rolling Road route here in the UK.

Phew!

By the way, I am NOT connected in any way to these guys - I've tried to be impartial and tell it how it is!

I'll see if I can get in touch and get one to post on the board to answer questions if need be - I can still contact them through my S2 Forum membership mail. There are some prices on the website I believe, but it's always worth trying for a 'group' discount (not just with car tuning, with anything ;) ) I guess.

Cheers
