TDi or SDi

Hi folks.

Does anyone have tech specs (Or links) for both the Arosa 1.7 SDi and the 1.4 TDi?

Think of getting a diesel model but not sure which one would be better.

Checked so far on www.carfolio.com but can only get details on the TDi.

Any help would be appreciated :)

Deffo the TDI, a mate used to have an SDI and the economy worked out about the same as the TDI only the TDI has more grunt and there is more to be gained performance wise should you decide to go that route. Plus, as you have noticed, there's more of them to choose from

TDi! I test drove an SDi, standard performance was comparable to my 1.0 (appart from the obvious torque gains!)

TDi for the same reasons above, and as already mentioned even basic parts for the SDi are either hideously overpriced or hard to get hold of. You get more scope with the TDi too. One of the guys at Uni had an SDi and he had to sell it as he was getting sick of spending most of his time sourcing parts to get his Arosa fixed.

At the moment I have a 1.0 Arosa but want something with a bit more torque, a little more power and better fuel efficiency.

I would also like to get a newer style Arosa and both the TDi and SDi models seem very reasonably priced at the moment :)

Ive got a 2002 Arosa TDi, i changed from a 2003 1.0S arosa, well ive still got that too.

But anyhow, the TDi is great, i bought mine due to doing more miles than i was before, i average about 56-60MPG with all sorts of driving, town, country, mototway etc, and i usually drive it quite quickly. On a run 65 is the worse ive ever had and 75 is the best.

Its far quicker than i thought it would be, and after 7 months of owning it it still puts a smile on my face when i use all its tourque and power :D

Then you can get them remapped which increases power and also MPG, providing you dont drive it flat out all of the time.

SDi compared to TDi then, well i never looked at SDis, because its basically the same to 60 as the 1.0, its in group 3 insurance, the TDi is group 4 so not much difference, and you get tunns more power.

Also the SDi is only available in the older shape arosa (MK1) TDis are all MK2s.

Ive been in a SDi lupo and that was quite impressive, but the power wasnt much and didnt last long. After the owner went in my TDi he soon swapped his lupo for an arosa TDi.

Although i would say TDis are worse on fuel, basically because they are quicker so people tend to drive them faster and harder, unlike a SDi which is basically set up for good MPG.

Although the brochure says the TDi does slightly more MPG on a run.

I say go TDi, you will never look back, and i carnt think of a single small car id like to own more than my arosa TDi, nothing can compete on price, power, and MPG. Even new Ibizaz with the 1.4 80BHP TDi are slower due to being heavier, so im sticking with what i have.
