Hi all, I've ordered the cat back non-resonated system from awesome but when I was on the phone to Sarah she said I really should get the large bore downpipe with de-cat. Just wondered on people's opinions on this. It's about £130. Would it be worth investing in this so I can fit it along with my new cat back? What differences would it make? Cheers! Ross

I just fitted a complete miltek non res to my cupra tdi, the non cat helps the turbo spool up quicker. i deffo felt not so laggy for 1-2k rpm but it make an annoying whistle from the tail pipe so considering putting the cat and standard system back on

you dont like the whistle, people on here with diesels do away with the cat and all baffles and they go through mots too i beleive and they get gains in power. im not a diesel owner but being able to do away with the cat with no consequences is the best thing since sliced bread.

So you don't reckon it's even worth putting on the downpipe? Or are you saying that it's not even worth upgrading the exhaust system?

Personally no i don't, i don't think i've gained anymore power. If i was going to go hybrid turbo then you have to upgrade the exhaust but if its standard turbo with just a remap standard exhaust is fine.

I think i read somewhere on here that Jabba said they don't see any gains from exhausts on TDI's

All i can say is when i got my magnex exhaust from ebay it freed up the revs quite alot - it now feels like it wants to rev unlike before - i don't have a downpipe atm but i will be getting one. And i love the whistle/woosh ;)

Yeah I'm not too bothered about the performance gains. More just for it to sound nice. At some point in the future I want a turbo upgrade so it'll be there for that. Is the magnex a similar sound to a milltek? How much was it?

You won't see extra power from it unless you remap for it as you are efectivly fuel limited, the extra spool is worth the decat any day for me, it's just more punchy.
