Hi, had a search for the standard 1.9 tdi 130bhp exhaust size but cant seem to find it. Does anyone know the standard size the piping is? I'm looking to cut out the cat and fit a section of pipe in with a flared end and clamp. I saw it on a mk4 golf tdi but don't wanna get the wrong size pipe.

Yeh round about 55/56 mm, you can't just slap in a straight bit though because it comes into the cat high and exits out the middle if I remember right. Easiest way is to just chop off the exit pipe, hollow out the cat and weld in a new straight piece then wait till a decat downpipe comes along at a good price.

Unless u've changed rear section i've read there is no benefits to this as the std back box is a restriction,in the future i will be putting a full decat system on mine :)

I tried it on my last tdi but getting the pipe to sit right was a total mare because of the way the pipes come in and out of the cat. It might work better on the Mk4 platform though but I took the easy route for now. Also it's true, taking out the cat wont do anything powerwise unless it's choked up. Removing the rear silencer can give about 5hp or so on the ARL PD150. You do get a nice little subtle whistle with the cat off though.

Sound. Cheers for the advice. Will be better looking at doing a 'mufflerectomy' then. Got my own welder so it's not too much bother experimenting ;)
