Hi all :D

I've recently discovered that my cordy TDI 130 has that venting thingy , which enables me to add extra diesel into the tank

I was just wondering how many extra litres can be added if necessary

When i filled up earlier i added 5 litres extra , could more have been squeezed in ,

Many thanks ,

mark

It depends on how brave you are mate. I usually drive mine until the trip says 0 (then a few more miles) and I vent until I have put around 40 quid in (87.9 p per litre here at the moment). When I go on a long trip I push the vent valve in and fill till I hear it coming up the fill tube and then slow down and keep a close eye on it until I see it coming up the tube.

I've read that diesel expands when the weather is warmer so an exact measure is hard to say. I would say just go with what your comfortable with. Remember to drive at least 20 miles after filling in case the weather heats up and the fuel expands!

it won't expand to any extent the venting system is there for the petrol version, you can extract the valve in about 2 minutes whth just a torx driver, but you will then have to listen to endless lectures from bikers on spilled diesel, mine has been done for 4 years and if it leaked it would be reversed , not going to waste any at the current price of juice
