I have had my ibiza fr tdi for a week now so im still getting to grips with everything and learning about all the parts etc. I have just left town to come home (5 miles) and just by chance i was in a multistory car park so it was dark and i realised driving out my tcs light was just red constantly and stayed red until i got back. drivers manual says it should turn off after about 2 seconds from start and then flash?? any help appreciated

cheers

Could be failing a diagnostic check or summin? Do you mean the light on the switch stays on or you have a dash light on??

Thats alright then, cheers for that. Just got a bit worried as the manual says about a warning lamp shouldnt be lit up all the time which probably doesnt mean the tcs button itself then!

Thats right mate, time to worry is when yellow dash light come on!! Although if it comes on on its own it could just mean your car wants you to go faster???

the yellow light on the dash should be on constantly!! ;)

They shouldnt have placed the button near the handbrake if they didnt want this to be the case...

I know my ritual -- take handbrake off, and click TCS button... Ive had the TCS warning lights, airbag warning light, engine warning light all on... great fun.. looks like christmas :D

Same thing here!:D

But a week ago, I couldn't turn off th TCS anymore, and it has no light to it!

I managed to take apart the plastics aroun the handbrake and saw that the wires that lead to the TCS button were cut sometime before so they loosened...

I managed to sort that out but still can't figure out how to sort out why I can't turn the TCS off!
