TCS Button - Arrrrghhh! Help !!!!!

to cut a long story short... spilt a load of salt on the handbrake console (don't ask!)
Got a Car Interior Wipe and gave it a good clean.
Suddenly... TCS button 'pops' through the air and lands in the footwell.

'Bizarre' thinks me. Picks it up.. pops it back in and pushes it into place. Except doesn't feel quite right.. it's gone down too much. Hmmmmm.

THEN... spots the spring on the floor that I should have put under the button

Now I cannot for the life of me get the button back out of its hole and TCS is permanently off (with the dashboard light permanently on).

HELP!
Any ideas how I can get it back out without damaging the button?

Don't it just lift out?

I used a pen knife to get mine out (Ibiza) when it broke!

Just use knife on the sides of the plastic and it unclips once out.

£16 for a new TCS unit

It seems to have got jammed in there somehow. I was gonna try 2 knives - one each side and then lever it out but I just know I'll either scratch the button or lose a finger

What about getting some chewing gum or other such sticky substance and pull the button out with that?

why not take it out and turn it upside down ?

NO the TSC button that you press is in a little case,which if you use a knife or something you can remove it!

mine popped out the other day too (the button, that is!)

I didn't spill any salt on it though! It just jumped about a foot into the air while i was driving along...was pretty weird!
I also pushed it back in before I noticed the spring too ..doh!
