Tailights not working

Hi all , I've bought someone's project 6L Cupra R (TDi ) .

It had a whole load of issues which I've ticked of one by one but I'm stumped on the tailights not working , the side markers work fine , including the brake lights but nothing on the bootlid itself works including the third brake light , I've checked fuses and all are good . The mechanism to lock the boot is missing but this shouldn't cause an issue would it ?

I also see that the traction control button isn't wired in and I can't trace where the wires are , it's a pain as it's got a gtb2260vzk so traction control is not happy and can't be switched off. If anyone can point me in the right direction for either items that'd be great

Have you got a good ground? Possible that the lights are grounded through the missing boot lock in some way.
