Tailgate Closure Issue?

Has anyone had any issues with the auto tailgate not closing properly? It’s happened a few times now and it’s a little annoying as it takes a while to resolve.

Basically when I used the boot close button, the boot automatically closes satisfactorily. Then when I get in to drive off, car bleeps to tell me the boot is open. But it isn’t?

On stopping to check, the boot is firmly closed, but I have to open it and reclose it at least twice or three times to get the car to be happy? During doing this, the auto opening motors don’t always assist (as if they deliberately stop due to manual intervention), making the whole affair a whole lot trickier.

Anyway - any thoughts as to whether this is common, or just me…?

Cheers
Matt

So what I have discovered, and it sounds like the same issue you’re seeing, is if the key re-enters the car before the boot has closed, it intentionally fails to lock.

I’m guessing it’s the fail safe system for keyless, however it’s way overzealous. All it needs to do is prevent the doors locking if a key is inside...

Given that you can’t close the boot from inside the vehicle (afaik?), it’s rather annoying waiting for the boot to fully close before getting into the car!

Ah, this might make sense, thanks. I’ll bare that in mind next time it does it to see whether key location makes a difference, but this would make a lot of sense, as it does seem almost ‘deliberate’…..?

You can open and close the boot from the button on the door.

Ah my mistake then, however it’s still an inconvenience to have to either wait for the boot to close to get back in, or close it internally then wait for it before driving off...

I usually wait for the boot to close before I get in the car, so never experienced mentioned issue. Or maybe it's another fault on some cars, who knows?

Anyone else come across this.. if you open the boot with the key then unlock the car with the key it's perfectly normal. But if you unlock the car with the key then open the boot with the key,- when you close the boot and then get in the car the hazards flash 3 times and you get a little ring chime for each of the 3 hazard flashes... What's the crack with that??

This has also coincided on occasions with the boot not fully shutting. It doesn't complete the process it shuts down but then doesn't press down into place. Again I've figured it's something to do with the key being in the car etc ( it isn't happy if you use the internal button on the door, and it isn't happy if you use the key) so you have to physically get out with the key and go and shut the boot from the back pressing the button.

I've had to drill myself to always open the boot first ( If I need to go in it) before unlocking the car.
