i know the 1.6 sport did not have traction control, (no light on dash and no button on console) but if i spin up the front wheels i get the "marbles banging around in a plastic container noise" and a reduction in power! it does seem like the car is trying to reign me in?

has my brain finally packed up and started playing tricks on me or is something fishy at play?

On the 'Sports' only the TDi came with TCS Traction Control, the 1.6 didn't, but it did have a device called Electronic Differential Lock... EDL. This acts similar to traction control, as in it cuts the power when the sensors detect wheel spin, but it doesn't keep the power there like TCS does.

The TC on the mk3 hardly keeps the power there, drops the power loads when the wheels are spinning. 1st thing i do after starting the car is hit the TC button, always drive with it off. (unless the roads are freezing)

t/c sucks big time........forgot mine was on the other day, launched it off the lights and the engine just cut out with wheelspin.

worse part was, i was trying to show off against my mate in his renault espace(which was stupid anyway)........who then got the lead on me for a few seconds.lol
