Swollen key fob?

Hello,
When I test drove and picked up my car I didn't realise one of the key fobs was swollen until I got home and put both sets of keys down next to one another.

My first though was maybe the old battery had swollen in the heat and caused the key to distort but after opening up the case, the battery is on the opposite side and in perfect condition.

As you can see 1 key is clearly fatter than the other and although ill probably never use the fatter key it'd be nice to fix it.

Any ideas what is going on here?

Thanks for any help.

Both my keys (2015 cupra 280) are like the on on the left, with the bump in the middle more pronounced. Maybe the right hand one is a new key and there now flatter?

Mine look like that too, 2016 Leon. You’d know if it was the battery, would look at lot worse than that 😂

Just cheap plastic that has come away from the button with use. Get a cover for it, you won’t notice it 👍

One been kept in a drawer the other lying about in the sun and done what plastic does n the heat?
I think you’re spot on there. That’s a shame, but I’m obviously going to use the nice, new looking flat key and inevitably end up with two swollen keys 🤦🏻‍♂️

Same here, left key is two and half years use, right key is new and unused.
