Switching xenons for driving abroad

Hi all,

Does anyone know how to deflect/alter/reset the xenon beams for driving abroad? It could be done for the MK1 Leon apparently, using a switch on the lamp housing although this involved a bumper removal!

I travel to France regularly and would love to avoid a trip to the stealer each time. So far, I've not been bothering to deflect them but I'm starting to develop a conscience!

Thanks, Dave.

Any workshop / dealer type bods on here know for sure? I can't seem to find anything that looks like it might change the beam.

I know on BINIs there is just a flick switch on the Xenon housing - something similar on the Leon surely.

So I can adjust the headlight on the MK2 by sliding a lever at the rear of the headlight bulbs?. Only ask as I am to go to France in 7 days time and havent even read the handbook yet. JOHN

Would anyone with VAG COM mind checking this for me to see if it works with the Leon?

I have just been to the stealer who were (predictably) less than helpful. They said they can't be altered because the right and left hand versions are different units altogether. I find this very hard to believe.

They did then produce a photocopied manual (different to mine - pages 179 and 180 - that only show conventional headlight conversion) that show measurements for placing stickers over the bi-xenon lights. However doesn't seem to give a satisfactory result either! And surely the automatic levelling system would quickly render the stickers useless anyway?!

Dave

P.S. I couldn't find the lever (took the back covers off) that is detailed on the internet for mkv golfs, audis and skodas. Surely Seat xenons are the same though?!
