Suspension turret bolt - torque setting?

On the Nut that sits under the plastic caps on the top of the susp turrets, should it be tightened to a specific torque setting, or as tight as it will go?

Just wondered, as Ive taken the front drivers side susp apart, and put it back together again... the ride seems a little more crashy :banned:

The tightness of the top strut bolt won't affect the crashiness of the ride, the only problem it could cause would be rattling/clonking if it was too loose, and even that would be doubtful due to the pressure on it from the spring.

Any particular reason for taking it all apart ?

Investigating what tools would be needed for changing the springs.

Im not too convinced its even coming from there now, when I turn the car or go over any bumps I just hear clunking coming from somewhere under the car. Off to SEAT on wednesday - ill let them tell me what i've broken

nice guide muddy...the rears look like a piece of cake, and if it wasn't for the rhs front driveshaft getting in the way, i might have decided to fit them myself.

Im going to fit some coilovers to mine, do u rekon i could do the back myself, n then drive it to a garage to do the front for me? Or shudn't it be driven with the back on its ass and the front in the air? It would only be a 15min journey to the garage

p.s. sorry for draggin up the old thread! (but hey, least i searched  )

Probably be OK so long as you take it easy.

But yes congratulations on using the search :)

Thanks, good to hear it's of use.

Did you do the fronts ? How did you get on with the driver's side strut ?

:headhurt: the fronts:headhurt:

the passenger side was easier!;)

the drivers side was fustratingly annoying![:@]

as i was changing the wishbone bushes at the same time and had taken the bush mountings off the car subframe etc. to knock out the OE "foam" bushes :ban: and press the new cupra bushes :D in, as the subframe was being supported by a jack, we found that letting the subframe down 3 - 5mm by lowering the supporting jack, was just enough to get the bottom of the strut out of the strut clamp!
slight bit of what some might call a bodge:whistle: i know, but got the job done!

i will say this though, if you plan to change all 4 shocks, springs and wishbone bushes allow a full day to do it all! ;)

the rear suspension is really nice and easy i just disconnected everything on the front if you try and cut corners buy leaving bits on you normally make it harder on urself still only took about 3hours to do the full coilover kit!

i hope to do the powerflex bushes and vrs arb soonish after turbo!
