Hi,

Had 2 new springs fitted to the front of my car but one side of the car now looks to sit higher than the other? What could be causing this? Thought the springs may just need time to settle but whilst one side is fine the other looks a good few cm higher for some reason?

Cheers

Most cars are like that, sometimes there's 10mm difference.

My shocks have probably done all of the near 100k of the car but surely the car would sit lower on tired shocks? The higher side looks too high to me compared to the rest of the car.

tbh my 1.4 done that and now my cupra seems to slightly do it. i think it might be the ibiza design flaw? not sure if its top mount related like in relation to how tight you tighten up the screws?

is it possible they've not been assembled correctly?

or that the springs aren't the same.

unlikely to be the shock though, as the travel isn't affected if it's totally worn out (or not)

right just checked and it seems that the coils on the higher side of the car are further apart than the 'normal' side - would the only reason for this be a different spring or could there be some other reason for the spring being allowed to expand out more?

my tracking was also out when i picked up the car so i'm beginning to think a different spring may be the reason for this? i payed the garage cash so i hope they will be ok about it if it turns out they have fitted the wrong spring! that has been over a month now (wanted to give it time to settle if it needed).

:help:

Maybe the springs are different on each side.

I had a cracked front spring, i only wanted to change the knackered one (had already spent £400+ on MOT and 2 months later i was replacing the drive shafts (how the spring was picked up)hence i was skint) but the mechanic said there were 4 differnt ones (recognised by a clour marking on the spring.

He said if he gets one and it is not the same the car will be leaning to one side, so i got two new ones.

Maybe the garage tried to pull a swifty on you and used two different springs.:(

cheers for that. replaced the springs for the same reason as you - one broken at top coil. can anyone tell me where abouts i can find the marking on the springs then?

Sorry didn't see the springs but i assume at the top or bottom.

I think the colours include red and blue? but i could be totally wrong.
