Hi all,
Dont know how many of you read my thread "Why O Why" but i had a massive gearbox failure the otha week, just spoken to a mechanic and he said that the box didnt fail from the impact like suggested previousely, its due to the car being lowered!!!! I fitted some FK Highsport coilovers a week before and because it was dropped pretty low onto 17's, the drive shafts have been placed into an accute angle causing the drive shafts seals to fail, draining the gearbox and running it dry, the gearbox has then been sat at 70/80mph on the M1 for 30/40mins and its got hotter and hotter!! then when the box did hit the kerb its finally given up!! How low can i go safely to look good, but prevent any future damage!! Cars done 56K!!!
Thanks

how low is low... but the gearbox won't leak out the CV joints. you'll just lunch the CV joints

that looks good mate, i like that drop. any pics of the front on level ground? I'm being picky now sorry. Thinking spacers and coilovers would totally change how mine looks.

I thought it sounded a bit of a fob story myself but its what SAET told me so must be true!! LOL!! I no that when lowering a car the driveshafts operating angle changes but that would shorly in time wear the CV Joints ect. Anyway, wheers for that lads, im gonna get mine setup nice when i get the car back on Thursday!! Woohooooo!!
