Suspension advice

Hi all,

First time poster, was advised by a friend. I recently (4 months ago) purchased a 2019 Leon Cupra ST. Absolutely love the car but the previous owner put a lowering kit on it and the car is brutal over speed bumps and pot holes (literally have to drive about 12mph to clear a speed bump). I owned a 2018 Cupra hatchback that was stock and the ride was so much nicer. Just wondering if anyone has any advice and links on what springs I need to put back on to put the car back to a usable ride height?

Thanks.

Put back the orginals springs on the cupra the are factory also a bit lower. I drove like 3 years with h&r lowering springs than i moved to a other village with bad roads now its smooth as butter and in cupra mode still stiff enough on 19inch wheels.

Could you put FR struts on? You might lose the DCC. The ride on my Cupra 280 is quite harsh to be honest, and its stock suspension. The OEM shocks are Monroe, very cheap on Autodoc compared to Seat. Not sure re springs to be honest.

This is what I wanna do, but I brought the car through a Sytner dealership so I have no way of contacting the original owner to see if by chance he still has them. I don't mind buying new springs because thats all that was changed it's just getting the correct size.

If you think your rides harsh now try lowering the car by 15mm front and back lol. I just need to go back to stock ride height but thankyou for your input I'll look into it.

If i look on ebay u have for like 150 £ new stock springs or u can look on autodoc. My advice replace also the top mounts en bumpstops while your busy. Those go bad in time on MQB cars.

Post the car on here, see if the owner is on here.

Thankyou for your advice, I'll look into all those options, especially the top mounts.

I've found some for the Cupra hatchback, I have the estate, so would it make a difference, would the load rating be slightly different?

One thing that I'd add as a warning, ECP do sell Sachs springs, but I discovered that for some models of cars, they just sell "re-boxed" parts from a quality Swedish spring manufacturer and in my case, that Swedish spring manufacturer Lesjofors did not make springs for my car (2015 VW Polo 1.2TSI 110PS 6MT 5 Door). Sachs as part of the ZF group DO provide a spring for that version of Polo, but for some reason ECP don't bother to stock them or source them! The bit of info I glossed over was "3 Door inc GT" which meant that I ended up buying springs that were 10>15mm shorter than original.

I'm just adding this info in for you to make you very aware that it can be very easy to find what you think is the correct parts, only to discover too late that you have failed - and you having a Cupra ST 4WD will probably mean that your choices of finding exact correct parts will not be very easy. Always check the spring manufacturer's online webcat for suitability - I thought that I had done all that but conveniently ignored the "3 Door inc GT" as I don't think that there was an associated VW AG PR code option included!

Also, with "PR codes" in mind, maybe if not for now, but for the future, ask your local SEAT dealership parts dept for a print out of your car's "CAR DATA" that will give you every PR code option selected at the assembly point - as well as it's DOM!

There are 48 unique OEM spring part numbers for the independent rear suspension which vary depending on vehicle spec.
Aftermarket tend to just have 1 or 2 - sport or comfort.
Unless you can find someone with the exact same car - who can confirm 'aftermarket xx brand' spring works and has the correct ride height it can be a bit of a lottery picking an aftermarket spring that works out as expected.
Feel free to send me your reg and I can confirm the correct OEM spring part number.
