Supersprint stainless exhaust + quad pipes on my Formentor 1.4 eHybrid! 🥵

Finally finished the project. It is an italian Supersprint stainless cat-back system, with custom quad pipes finished in copper cerakote for durability. CSR rear diffuser also got added, it's a bit more discrete than the MAXTON one. My Formentor is the 1.4 eHybrid 245 VZ.

Quick pics and video of the result, and the story and more details underneath. Enjoy!

Video and sound:

Upon receiving the exhaust, there was actually a hole in the weld, but Supersprint was really quick to fix it on their account of course. So hats off to their customer service!

The amount of work needed to get this exhaust swap done was a bit much to be honest. When removing the plastic exhaust trim you open up a gaping hole underneath the diffuser, exposing sensors and cables etc. See here:

Now, the towbar also leaves a big hole, so It's not a catastrophe. But the one here is in the spray zone from the rear tyres. So I cutout a piece of bitumen to close up the worst bit:

Gonna change that bitumen to rubber one day, as I fear winter will cause it to crack at some point.
These are the plastic T-rivets (I just made up that name) that I use to fix the bitumen cover and the rear diffuser. I highly recommend something similar if you're planning on doing any plastic bodywork:

Now, check out the size difference of the Supersprint vs stock resonator and muffler:

Almost forgot, you also need to cut the underlying plastic diffuser to fit the rear pipes. You can see that cutout (kinda) here:

All done!
I put together the rear pipes and tips myself, which was a bit of a hassle. A 1.5 radius 64mm stainless 90° bend was needed to be in the right place.
The tips are actually poking out a bit too far, so I'm gonna reposition them a bit.

An interesting thing, check out the difference in how much they poke out when warm vs cold. Pretty clear picture of thermal expansion here! Thought it was funny:

So glad this is done! It was fun, and the sound is completely different now.

Thanks a lot for all that information. i also have a plugin hybrid 245 VZ and was thinking about doing the same kind of thing. I see that the diffuser between the tail pipes is not the original one. Did you have to change it or was just that you preferred the design?

You're welcome!

That diffuser bit is purely aesthetical and unnecessary. It's a CST rear diffuser :geek:

Ooh, those exhaust ends look awful and cheap. They are the wrong colour
That’s just your opinion, which you’re entitled to. It doesn’t mean your opinion’s right though.

We all have different likes and dislikes which IMHO is a good thing, otherwise life would be boring 🤔.

To me they look a lighter colour of copper, preferred the original myself, but everyone is different.
I actually agree, they are a bit in the light end of the spectrum in these pics. I think It's because of the surface texture.
Having driven around, getting them dirty, they look more natural:

Hi NK, curious to see how this is travelling after a year as I'm looking to do the same.

How's the drone on the highway? Presumably it's not a noticeable performance gain

Oh hi guys. Went through some stuff.

The exhaust is performing really well now almost 2 years later. No drone, the particle filter kills a lot of sound. It's a built in extra muffler basically.

Funny enough I am experimenting with removing the rear muffler, still with Supersprint resonator. Much better sound, and actually slightly better numbers versus stock. 0-100 time is down to 6.5 sec. Exhaust, K&N air filter, silicone intake elbow. Getting some new F1 Eagles on this week. Will probably improve
