i've got a supersprint backbox on my 8v, the fit is absolute rubbish for the price I paid (£160). If I was buying another zaust I wouldn't buy the Supersprint. Just my opionion tho

General opinion is that Supersprint tend to make some of the best fitting aftermarket systems available - obviously EvilKinevil's experience doesn't suggest this, but i've heard an awful lot of people say nothing but good things about Supersprint systems.

tiz maybe just me but it didn't fit, when I made it fit it wouldn't seal so I welded it up, pain in the bum, its still not exactly right but as its as good as it can get.

to try and describe. The backbox goes from under the bumper then over the rear beam, 90 degree turn right streight a little then 90 degrees left then meets up with the cat (still with me?) the backbox I bought hooks over the rear beam, thats it no turns no nothing. So it does fit and suppose if i bought a full system it would have been better, but I didn't.

I also bought a peco, and there was no way that would fit, tried fitting it myself, it didn't fit, took it to a garage, didn't fit, took it back to shop, they didn't believe me! Peco themselves didn't believe me, eventually got my money back

Magnex & Remus both do zausts for the ibiza, but the mk3 20vt system fits directly onto the mk2 so, i'd say look out for a system/backbox that fits a mk3. Or you can get a custom made one. If you do a search there are hundreds of topics on zausts

@16V-cuprasport

If you're looking at spending that sort of money, why don't you look at getting a custom one built... Get it made to fit and to your spec re sound and tail pipe.

My opinion would be a custom built one - i had cat back one with nice little oval pipe for £250 all fitted etc . Not too loud and no probs with it so far after a year

EvilKinevil - Was it the original factory exhaust that you had problems attaching the Supersprint back box to? If so... the factory system comes as a single section from the cat back, whereas replacement systems come as a mid section and back box. Thus to replace just the back box, the original system must be cut - and preferably, in the correct place. If the original system is cut in the wrong place, then problems will be experienced with any replacement back box, whether a direct OEM type replacement or an aftermarket "sports" type. From your description, I can only assume that this is what has happened with yours.

FWIW - the direct replacement exhausts are pretty efficient, and with the systems for the 2.0 engines being 2" diameter, you have to be doing some fairly serious engine work before this starts becoming a hinderance. Also as a result of this, a "sports" exhaust is unlikely to unleash any extra power - it's just looks and noise. Of course, that may be exactly what you're after, but it's not everybody's bag - it ain't mine, so when the exhaust on my 8v fell apart, I just replaced it with a direct replacement.

ok, i see what your saying.
I only replaced the back box. to do this I removed the OE back box from my car (95,GTi,8v) to do so I removed the clamp at the back of the cat. the section had/has 2 90 degree bends in it (one left one right) then it went over the rear beam, then the back box, then tail pipe. The supersprint one was only the backbox and the pipe over the rear beam, no bends. So I had to cut the 2 bends off the original and fit them to the new backbox. then put everything back together. unfortunally beacuse of the weight the seals kept breaking and I had a leekey zaust like every week. So I welded the new and old OE sections together, now it is one complete unit.

All I was trying to do was point out that, if you are buying only a supersprint backbox (only), it is not a direct replacement (i.e. 1 off 1 on) theres a bit of fiddleing about/adjustment for it to be properly fitted. When I bought it, I was told it was a direct replacement, which in my opinion it wasnt. Yes if I had not been tight and bought the whole system it would have been snug as a bug, but I am.

Now it fits, I'm happy

Original factory system is effectively the middle section and back box - but all in a single section - they can do it that way as they install the exhaust before the back axle is bolted to the shell. If you bought a replacement exhaust, this would actually be two sections. Go figure...

The upshot is that the Supersprint back box is a direct replacement for a replacement backbox. You just need a seperate mid section first, or cut down the factory "mid section and back box all in one".

As for joints coming apart... The back box support is a pretty sh1tty design IMHO. Two hangers both on the same side means that on a two box system, the weight of the back box will tend to pull the joint apart. The same arrangement means that when the factory "mid section and back box all in one" exhaust rots out at the bend (as it usually tends to), the weight of the box - which is only supported on one side, remember - pulls the pipe apart.

I dont think that the back box supersprint pipe fits all standard systems, i ordered a supersprint centre section to fit onto a tail pipe i had (which was standard fitting) and the pipe was too long, so i presume the back box wont be standard fitting either. I did have a full system on my old 8v though and it was sweet, got some more power and the sound was good.
