sunroof winder help, not fully closing

alright guys bit of a mundain question but any help would be greatful

opened the sunroof earlier but not cant get it fully closed up. its fine up to the stage were it has to raise up to sit flush with the roof and also the handle doesnt return all the way to its original position, iv tried pushing the button on the handle in but to no avail
(cars a cordoba and yes iv posted in the cordoba section but this seems more lively)
any ideas?

could it be the screw which holds the handle to the roof is too tight so that it restricts the movement of the handle.
Think the handle on the sr of our 1.4 looks like its been adjusted for this reason at some point

it could be the two little metal supports that hold up the spolier thingy that diverts air upwards, one of them might have rusted and snapped. common problem on mk2 golfs..

Have u tried pushing the sunroof up while u try and turn the handle, to get it raised up flush?
