Suddenly got fader option after wiring speakers

This one confused me to be honest, I fitted a small 4 channel amp and the back of the CD unit is 6 channel, I didn't realise initially, so I only had the front tweeters and rear speakers amped as the front door speakers are on separate pins.
I've always only had the basic balance with L/R as an option in sound settings, but I wired the front door output from the unit to the front input on the amp along with the tweeters that were already wired in there, and the sound settings has now changed from balance to full fader, which I've never seen before.

So I guess the unit has sensed something has changed, I thought you'd have to code this in to be honest. It sounds crap at the moment to be honest, and I've had enough of farting about with the wiring so I'm booking it in to the let the pros sort it

Does it sound worse than it did before you fitted the new amp?

I think, and am happy to be corrected, that the extra two channels on the standard amp are for the front centre-channel and subwoofer, so you should have just wired into the existing fronts and rears.

What was the amp you fitted? Is it a ‘high-level’ design? In as much as it uses the speaker outputs and amplifies them?

I've gone through the wiring and the fronts are just the tweeters and the front doors are on separate pins, I fitted an active sub and I originally thought the same as you, but there's no low level output on the front pins and the sub switched on but no output, so only highs for the tweeters on the front l/R pins, so I tapped into to pins for the front door speakers and the sub worked great.

It's high level input amp connected via ISO T harness.

But today I've farted about trying to get amp to power all the speakers, on paper it should be fine, but I think I've got a dodgy connection or I've messed something up, as now the sub has lost some oomph and the rest of the speakers sound a little worse, so it's something I've done, but I have honestly had enough of dragging the CD unit and trying to sort it, so I'll let a shop sort it.

The fader suddenly appearing today was what threw me, it's never been there before

I just realised I already started a speaker question thread, apologies mods for an extra one!

I went out this morning and wired everything back to how it was before I messed about with it, the sub as back to normal and sounding great, the speakers sound decent again, but I'll still have to get the front door speakers running off the amp, but I'll take it to a pro this time

The fader has disappeared and I'm back to the normal balance control again
