Subwoofer advice needed!

Hey, I'm a long time (2 1/2 years) lurker, but this is the first time i've needed help!!

I've replaced the front speakers in my leon with Infinity 652.7i's (as recommended!) and they sound fantastic, but the bass is a bit lacking - they distort on kick drums when up moderately loud. So...i'm after a little bit more bass to fill the bottom end out a bit, nothing over top, and easy to remove when i need the boot space.

I'm planning to get a FLI 12" Active cab (yeah, i know they're not amazing), and connect it via a line level convertor to the rear speaker cables, however, i really don't want to lose the back speakers. So, is it possible to tap the speaker cables for the sub, and keep the rear speakers running from the HU without distroying anything and my car going up in flames??

Cheers!

A fair bit, and I don't really want to lose the sound from behind. Fading to the front speakers only sounds a bit pants, and i don't think a sub would make up for them.

aha yeah yes it would mate trust me

you want all your mids and trebles coming from in front of you. think of different sound waves as light

treble - laser beam

mid - torch

bass - hanging lamp

the positioning of treble and mid is very important and should be angled toward your ear. having it coming from behind you only upsets your natural soundstage

but if you take passengers in the back it will sound pants for them with no rear speakers.

also, in answer to your question, i do not think it is possible to use the rear speaker wire without losing the rear speakers.

using them will give you poor sound quality from the sub anyway, just run some aux and remote under the interior trim to rear of headunit.
