stuttery starts!!

[GTI 16v]

When switch my engine on (from cold), it is very stuttery, the idle revs are fluctuating alot and if I dont rev my car it will stall.

Has any one had this problem. once it gets warmed up its better, but still the throttle response is very jerky and sudden, even if I am very gentle with the throttle.

I'd give the ISV a clean, then the throttle body then look at the coolant temp sensor.
