Stuttering Cupra R

awryt guys

got in the car the other day and turned it on started fine and was then driving for bout an hour, after this i stopped for a few hours and then jumped back in and turned the ignition but the car started making a coughing noise, this happens when i am sitting still or accelerating it stutters, so i took it for a drive a and the stuttering gets worse as i go through the rev range but is slightly better at a constant speed, then finaly when i pulled up back at my house i noticed an eggy smell coming from the exhaust which makes me think that it must be the CAT.
was wondering what anyone else thinks or has anybody had this problem with there Leon.
Any advice would be great

Cheers.

Sounds to me like it's a coil pack gone mate. Is the engine warning light on:confused:. Your best bet is to change all 4 in 1 go as if 1 has gone the others will follow soon.

yeah the engine management light flashed on and off for bout a minute then went off. i kinda thot it might be the coil pack but they have been changed before, it is a common fault tho isnt it???

I'd say change all 4 in 1 go mate, if you fit them yourself then fit them 1 at a time and test the car, if it turns out to be 1 coil pack then keep the other 3 old 1's for an emergancy. Where abouts you based

If you are fitting them yourself then try GSF if you have 1 locally as they are cheaper there than main dealer. There was a thread on here about some of the older coilpacks (part no's) not lasting long. Think some have changed to the packs with r on the end of the part no.
