As all ibiza mk2 owners know, the central locking system is completely crud.
Ive had problems with mine ever since ive owned it. Does any1 out there know of a modification or golf mk4 conversion out there. Sometimes it makes me want 2 sell the car but i wont let it get the better of me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

you wanna read my escapades with it

what problems you having ?

i considered a universal electric kit but to be honest i couldn't be arsed to wire it all in

if the pump is working (osr 1/4 panel) there isn't much goes wrong with em apart from joints coming apart somewhere

one trick i have learnt after my kid stuck an air line down the pipes while the motor was out (dont do it btw) is to check the clear shaft seal is wrapped over the boot lock solenoid properly, seems to the weakest spot so far

and make sure the pipe into the compressor is RIGHT OVER as they feel good but never seem to lock in easily

from the junction in the OSR 1/4 (behind the rear lamp)

red is fuel flap solenoid (common to leak)
blue is doors
black is boot lock
green is supply from motor to junction pipe

pop em off one by one and test by suck/blow down em doesn't take much pressure to make em work and a scrap bit of washer pipe or fuel hose is handy unless you can squeeze a small childs head in the corner as i had no pipe to hand :p

My problem at the moment is that a fuse remains on blowing everytime i replace it.
Its the fuse the controls the central locking pump, interior light and clock.
Im unsure if its a bad earth or a faulty cable. Has any1 experienced this???

main earths at the rear of the car are in the same area by the lights etc and the pump itself

OSR 1/4 panel inside the boot in a foam box - just follow the coloured pipes from behind the rear light

small wiring plug to disconnect to test the circuit after and the pump for a dead short while you are at it

if still bad circuit remove and test the interior light as the delay circuit board might have fused ?

can't think of much else connected to it apart from possibly maybe stereo +12v? not replaced it recently and caught a wire or got one mixed up ?
