Stuck Cup Holder

Hi Everyone,

I've done a search on this but couldn't find a solution so please don't shoot me if Its been covered before.

While I'm waiting for my new coil's to be delivered I thought I'd do a bit of maintenance and the one thing that's been bugging me for ages is the cup holder in the dash.

Basically its stuck, slightly pushed in from its normal 'flush' position, it went in one day about a month ago and wont come out. I've tried sliding credit cards in the top and bottom but to no avail.

I can't get anything down the side because its too tight, are the clips that are holding it in (and I assume stuck) down the side? as I can't seem to find anything catching on the top or bottom.

Anyone know how these work and able to give any advice as to how it might come out!

Cheers,

Alex

Take out the radio and unstick it, then fit the other 1 that you have. Im sure its only a couple of screws.

Im sure you can access it when you remove it. Probably easier to remove the tray under the radio aswell, will give you more space.

Mines starting sticking over the past couple of months. I found that prodding it near the right hand edge will eventually free it.

yep, mine gets stuck sometimes, i just push it a few times and it pops out./

I noticed when i push it in it goes back further than normal and then drops a few mm's thens after a few pokes its pops back up to its normal flush position.

It is a good cup holder, its just in an annoying position and only one of them, which is a big shame.

I have exactly the same problem, done about 2500 miles without it popping back :( I'm gonna try fixing it at the weekend when I've got some daylight to work with.

mines has never stuck, but can the cup holder be taken out and replaced with some operational buttons?

or even replace the cup holder with one from a golf or something? a fancier one?

hahahaha my friends think the cup holder is the coolest thing since sliced bread for some reason, but every time they play with it i wince because it might get stuck. you can 'feel' the flimsiness of that thing when you touch it
