Fitted my strut bar today then went out in it and have found that my air box is hitting it when i accel. Now i have looked inside it appers to have come off its brackets not sure if this is due to it hitting and pulling it off or it was off and that why it was hitting if that make sense  just could do with a few pics to see how far the bar is off the airbox? the car is a 20vt and its a seat sport strut bar.

It's very common, I put a bit of foam tape where the strut brace meets the air box. You could also put a washer on each bolt to raise the brace a little.

Here is my clearance. It is actually about 1.5cm and does not knock at all. The only problem I had was with my engine cover which I removed in the end.

Not true I'm afraid :p There has been loads on this in here! Maybe you just can't hear it when the tractor's running

lol...na, there's enough clearance along the whole brace :D probably due to the fact i fitted it as soon as i got the car (brand new) [B)]

as for tractor...:p it really aint as bad as you might think, especially having pulled up to other TDi's and comparing the 2 engine sounds. it's only tractor-like when cold :cartman: you jus jealous :cartman:

Jealous lol...I used to have the TDI Cupra but upgraded to the 20vt a little over a year ago ;) But lets not turn this into another derv vs petrol thread!

It's probably part of the Seat lottery as to whether it bangs or not. I've never had the washer pipe come off, the veering to the left, the condensation in headlights or the wind noise but I do get the strut brace/airbox thing. Every Ibiza owner has to suffer from one of these problems :(

i know...the downturns of the cheaper brand option. but of those you mentioned i've only had the condensation in the headlights, but nothing major (no marks on the inside or anything). i only went derv for the lower insurance cost compared to other brands ;)

They are a tight fit but it's meant to be like that as its bracing the suspension tops together. It's best to get each bolt in a tiny bit and then go round them all a few times gradually tightening each one up.

lucky me i get the wind noise not got the strut brace yet to know if i have the airbox problem lol.

lol
