Strength Of The ASV Engine???

Morning!

Just wondered if anyone knew what sort of power you can put through the ASV engine??

Ive currently got around 180 - 185 BHP (280ish lb/ft tourque!) and would like more of course! I dont wana go down the route of uprated internals as that would cost $$$$$!! Ive heard somwhere that 200BHP should be ok but im not so sure!

I was thinking of hybriding my PD150 turbo but i wont bother if the engine will not handle it lol!

Thanks for any input!!!

:)

just doing some research, if we say the asv lump is only good for approx 200bhp why is that? What parts cant take any more power? I want to make the pd turbo a hybrid soon and im guessing the only way to handle this is with uprated internals! What would need upgrading and any ideas on cost???

the ALH block has been pushed to about 220-230 loads of times on tdiclub.com, and that is pretty much the same engine except it doe not have oil cooled pistons which the ASV does

so bash on, squeeze all the power out of it you want as long as it's looked after i'm sure it will last! and if it doesn't, perfect time to upgrade to a PD130/150 engine

I remember a portuguese asv taken to 214hp on stock internals,,, I've seen 90hp's taken to 250 and more with uprated rods.
The stock rods just can't take too much torque and they're prone to bending,,,

May I ask you how's the spool up with the 150 turbo?

fenwick good luck on interfacing the 150 ecu with the rest of the car,,,
