Strange Tyre Wear

2001 Alhambra 115PD

The NSF Tyre has ~3mm tread all over except for about a 60 degree section on the outside edge, that is worn to 'visible tread' only.

Any ideas?

Also what to replace them with? We live in Aberdeen and get a 'bit' of snow most winters.

Thanks

Could be one of three things:

- Low tyre pressure? how often do you check?
- Hard cornering - we all suffer from that
- Tracking

Or a mixture of all.

Not sure what tyres you can get, what size are they?

Try having a look on mytyres.co.uk, they have reviews and good prices too.

Hope that helps :)

Thanks Cardaft,

We only recently bought the car, so they may have been run soft before we had it. Tracking is fine and the Mrs (Whose car it is) is not one for high speed cornering, although she is prone to lighting the tyres up trying to get out of junctions quickly - that's what happens when you go back from AWD to FWD (if only AWD Alhmabras were more common)

Will check out mytyres

Cheers

The tyres are 215 55 R 16. The current ones are Federal (never heard of them) I wonder if they have the correct load rating? Does it make a difference?

If it was the tracking, why only on a 60deg sector?

I was looking on mytyres and saw these, Avon, Ice Touring ST 215/55 R16 97H RF @ £78.60. I used to rate Avons back in the days when I drove quick cars. (Pug GTis) Or are the cheaper Brands (Like Federal HIMALAYA WS1 215/55 R16 97H XL) OK?
