Strange Spitfire Buzzing sound from engine Video Included

Hi there,

Basically recently I have just fitted an oil temp gauge along with SeanyK who is also on here. This may be a big coincidence but I am getting a very loud buzzing sound since doing this from the engine bay which disappears as soon as I start to drive off but then comes back when i stop and even then it doesnt always happen.

Anyway I thought I would include a Video of this when I managed to catch it happening which you can hear when I move the phone near the 4th coilpack and the big silver pipe leading to turbo.

sorry about the bad quality (Mobile phone):gay: but I will try to get a better video of this with my camcorder later this week.

really hard to tell without seeing/hearing in person could be a number of things

I had a listen to this yesterday briefly, seemed to be coming from the rear of the engine bay.

I've asked James to check whether the noise goes away if he presses the clutch.

Also, I thought it might be a coilpack *maybe*...

ill try and post a new better video. Wierd thing is that it goes as soon as i set off. Not clutch as i tested that.

is it when its cold? is it idling quite high? mine sounds very similar and a bit rough when first started and its cold!

i wouldnt worry about it to much pal

to me is sounds similar to the noise that the forge split r can make, have you got a split r?

edit.. just read your sig... check the split r dv... if so adjust the spring on it

Good call... He has got a Split-R, not for much longer though I think the Turbosmart is due any day now...

James, try putting the Bosch DV on tommorow maybe just to try it?

I do have the split r and luckily if it is the dv i do have a turbosmart arrving anyday now. I do hope it is the dv but its such a wierd noise that only comes on when im idling or driving very slow. NO fault code on Vag Com

Ill try and get a better video soon if the turbosmart doesnt sort it.
