Hi guys.... I need your help!

I was parking my brand new FR today and when I turned the engine off I heard a loud clunk sound. It sounded like it came from the handbrake but I couldnt tell for certain. Checked everything but couldnt work out what could of caused it.

I drove it home and there were no issues, everything seems to be working well. Its the first time its made this noise (only 300 miles on the clock).

Any ideas what this could be? Im baffled

I'd take it back to the dealership if I were you. I'm thinking clutch? Is it the DSG? We bought our DSG FR with only a few thousand on the clock and the only problem we've had with it so far is the steering rack which was replaced under warranty, so what you're describing there does seem a little odd to me...

Not sure mate, discussed this with my father last night and he thought it may have been the handbrake slipping a notch - he suggested I hadnt pulled the handbrake up far enough

Im going to keep my eye on it this week and see if I have a reoccurrence.

It isnt the DSG by the way, just plain old manual.

I had the same problem only did it a few times, when i had a polo 1.9 tdi.

Mine was the handbrake that hadn't fallen into the teeth properly

The other thing that it could be was what i had in my ibiza fr, just sold it yesterday

As i came to a stop from reversing the front drive shaft clunked hard, but only when it was wet. Go to the garage and get it checked, but it took me 4 times until SEAT could find what i was on about

Thanks for the advice. Im going to wait and see if it does it again before contacting the dealer - hopefully it wont!

i think it'll be okay, mine did it once after a few weeks of ownership and hasn't done it since. i just about s*** myself the noise was so loud, but it was obviously just the handbrake not engaged properly so it 'dropped' a notch.

obviously if it keeps doing it get it checked ... and leave your car in gear from now on ;)
