hey guys any ideas what this could be?

yesterday i travelled 15 miles on the motorway at 70 to 80 mph drove in to the town in the traffic at around 20 mph but i had a grinding noise and vibration through the steering worse if i turned left,
i drove back down the motorway at 60 and the noise had gone i took it to the garage and they checked the wheel bearings no play check the drive shafts nothing they took it on a road test and nothing, i drive to work this morning and its back coasting out of gear and its still there, can any one give me a clue to what it could be

cheers

Could be a dodgy tie rod, I have the same problem with my car - brought it to a mechanic and he said my tie rod needs to be replaced. Bought one on the net for like £11.

the only thing that i think could triggerit would be slow town driving, a bump in the road
it just seams to be very intermitant
