Nowhere near, i.e. Norway.
I'm kinda new to VAG-COM, but anyway. I took a full scan and it coughed up these three faults.

VAG-COM said:
18048 - Internal Control Module: EEPROM Error
P1640 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent

17978 - Engine Start Blocked by Immobilizer
P1570 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent

16955 - Brake Switch (F): Implausible Signal
P0571 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
Readiness: 0000 0000

I also got these:

VAG-COM said:
Address 17: Instruments
1 Fault Found:
01176 - Key
07-10 - Signal too Low - Intermittent

Address 46: Central Conv.
1 Fault Found:
01179 - Incorrect Key Programming
35-00 - -

I find the two last ones strange.
Signal can't be too low, it's not like it's a battery in the transponder.
How can the key have incorrect programming? It starts the car!

If I try to clear these codes, and they won't clear, I take it it's something wrong somewhere?

Anyone wanna shed some light on this? Thanks.

2nd code (first quote) looks like someone has tried to start the car with the wrong key (or key with the wrong code??) This could well link to the latter two codes in the 2nd quote.

Have you had a key that has had a flat battery and lost sync? Have you had to resync it? Or perhaps you tried your spare key and it didn't work?

3rd code (first quote above) is a dodgy brake switch (obviously). I have just had this replaced on my car, although yours is intermittent - be prepared for it to stop working altogether soon (and you'll have no brakelights) Costs about £8 for part, and the lower dash needs to be removed to access the switch.

I'd suggest making a note of all the errors, and then clearing them all. Most are intermittent errors, so could have only happened the one time.
If they come back, then there is possibly something wrong with the key you are using.

EDIT: Do you have problems unlocking your car with the keyfob? Could you possibly have an old battery in your keyfob?

Thanks for the enlightenment, Paul!

My key just stopped working a few weeks ago, so the car must think it's the wrong one. I just didn't think it would "remember" it now, when the key issue seems to be solved.
I really hope that this could link to the two codes in my 2nd quote.

My key just stopped working, yes. I recoded it.

Thanks, I'll have one stand-by. I'm too hung up on this key-matter, I didn't think clear about that brake switch. I just thought what does this have to do with my key-problem.

I've had serious strange behaviour with my original transponder, yes.
I've recoded the original transponder and another used one I picked up for free. They both works as they should now.

A little digression. This HTH letter combination is a kitchen brand in Scandinavia, and when I see it on forums I always think, what the?

I've had key problems, but just related to the transponder/immobilizer. And the battery is fine, thankyouverymuch.

HTH = Hope this helps :) lol

So it seems like once you've sorted your key - you'll be able to clear the codes and never see them again (bar the brake switch error).

I don't know what the EPROM error is though - but could be related to key also? Hopefully someone might help there.
