Strange 'clunk' when changing gear?

Hi people,

I've got a 54 LCR on 30k.. just had it remapped along with DV, TIP, shortshifter and INA dogbone/transmission/engine mounts.

Anyway, very impressed with power etc but i have noticed something which is starting to annoy me a little... When accelerating farily hard and changing gear - usually about 4-5k revs, i get a fairly loud 'clunky' noise.. it happens as soon as i put the clutch down to upshift gear and happens even if i floor the clutch without touching the gearbox...it feels almost as though the momentum of the engine is pulling or knocking something when i put the clutch down. i can lessen it or make it go away by holding revs when press the clutch or blipping the throttle just before engaging the clutch. Now this noise seems to get less worse as the car warms up and in higher gears.

Does anyone have any ideas? as mentioned ive had the engine mounts upgraded so was expecting very little engine movement - if that is infact what i am hearing/feeling. like i said i can reduce it but never had it before the remap and stuff and its starting to p*ss me off a bit!

Sorry for the essay...cheers guys!

Anyone got any ideas?

The 'clunk' seems to come from underneath and in the middle of the car.

It definatly happens more when cold and in lower gears and is when i rev the engine and then engage the clutch.. i can make it less worse by feeding off the throttle gently before i engage the clutch.

I've only got about 3 months of warranty left so just want to get everything checked that could go wrong anytime soon..

As above, sounds like a mount has not been done up properly. Most of the bolts for the mounts are stretch bolts and should have been changed for NEW oem bolts when changing the mounts. Be careful you do not over torque the dogbone mount when changing it; this can strip the threads in the box and cause a right mare, Willie has had this problem I believe.

Yea I actually bought the stretch bolts seperatly and made sure they had the correct torque settings but will take it back and make sure they are all ok.. Cheers fellas

well at least you guys have gears i changed my dogbone mount because it snapped off the bolts that hold it to the subframe and it also resulted in the engine droppin a little bit and putting a split in the top of the cat but now ive changed all this i have gears when the engines not running but asoon as i start her up the gears dont want to know.
