Im havin a similar problem with my 2001 cupra!

Noticed it alot as the weather has got wetter and damper as you said.

It almost feels like there is no turbo sometimes as you dont get the kick at just over 2000 rpm even though there is no great loss in power you can still tell there is something up with it! and when sat in 6th at motorway speed it does not pull away as it should.

Can be intermitant, but is doing it most times i start the car!

Went out in the car tonight and half way through my journy the engine management light came on and im thinkin it will be something to do with the same thing, so need to wait till tomorrow when a mate pops it on VAG-com and see what it says, just hope its not going to be expensive!!!

I had mine on a mates code reader today and it brought up PO 172 Code (system too rich bank 1)

Which im told is a boost leak and would also point towards my cheap crap DV that i have on the car so just ordered a new one.

Also the Maf is shot!! even though its only 5 months old
(To check Maf unplug sensor and drive car to see if you get a better response in power/torque) if you do then you need a new one! if not then your maf is fine

just fitted a DV30 Bailey, new MAF and standard air box today and what a difference that has made!! the car feels fastest it has ever been! all be it there is a little more lag due to it having standard air box on!!
