Right,

Recently fitted coilovers and a set of 15s with a ET of 33.

Suspension and wheels are always first on the list and closely followed by stopping power when i get a new car.

The brakes on my standard 1.4 are shocking and i suffer badly from brake fade, so i'm looking to upgrade.

I know some people use the TT set up is it on their mk3s?

What is the best option for the mk2? Because i know the TT set up is a 5 stud?

Any info would be great.

Money is an issue as well, dont want to spend silly money really

tt's are 5 stud and used on the mkiv ibiza, not easily doable on the 4 stud mk2

best option for you is to look for 280mm brakes off a stock 16v cupra/cordoba and the mk3 cupra

also improve the pads and fluid, are you getting fade or a soft pedal?

I went from 239's to 312's on the van

night & day difference really

however, a cheaper & simpler mod would be 239's to 280's (you still need to replace the hub carrier etc)

Fade i think? after a bit of hard breaking, they go all soft and rubbish... to the point where I'm not even pushing the car or breaking patically(sp) late and it still struggles to stop in time.

So Calipers and discs from the GTi, are 8v different or can i get them from any GTi? Are the GTi cupra ones any better?

Also, what pads do people suggest as ive been told about green/red stuff etc.. But been told that the green stuff ware away very quickly etc...

Sorry for all the questions.

the 2.0 8v has 256mm brakes, which are ok, but still a bit crap for a 1100kg car.

280's are far better - even with good standard pads for the 60bhp.

when I had 239's on the 1.4 I used to eat pads in 4000 miles because they got so hot.

So I would need hubs from a 16v then?

Hard to fit?

Only ever changed discs and calipers before!
