Stone Chip

I recently noticed a stone chip at front of the bonnet and just washed my car today and rust has set in  Does anybody know if Seat will repair this under warrenty (10yr rust protection thing) or because the paint has been fouled will they tell me its my problem to sort.

Has anyone else had this problem with their car? If so how did you sort it and did you have to pay someone to put it right.(how much if you did).

If i have to sort it myself, any advice on good places to take it in West Yorkshire (closer to Huddersfield the better)

Cheers

graham.

Ps once its sorted any one put any protective film on the front. Any advice on these products for mk IV pre-face lift FR would be great

warrenty....they will laugh at you

chipsaway are nation wide and seem to have plenty of fans on here

what colour is your car cos mine is yellow and the touch up paint is absolutely pukka

I have done 3 chips with it

use a pin to remove the rust and also make the chip a little bigger "this sounds odd but trust me on this"
blob some paint into the chip, let it dry overnight, flatten it off with some t cut with your cloth wrapped round a credit card "like a sanding block, and hey presto it's invisible

I don't think the darker colours are so easy to get good results with at home though

good luck with it fella!

be careful when using chipsaway as although its a franchise, each employee has different skill levels, I had some work done on my mr2 and basically he did a crap job. the panels were a different shade of colour and there were parts where it wasn't blown in correctly, needless to say I wont be using them again.

Just use a clay bar and a touch up pen. I had a rusty chip on my old Ibiza and the clay bar will pull most/all of the rust out and the make sure you cover it over with a little paint+laquer.

The Warranty is a perforation warranty IIRC which means the rust must make a hole before its covered
