My clutch is rather sticky, i've replaced the cable, and it's still pretty much the same, will spraying some wd40 on the pedle hinge help or is it more to do with the clutch itself? any ideas?

Well to be honest there isn't much you can do about it. mk2 Ibizas, and the 16v especially are well known for having really heavy sticking clutches. For some odd reason that's just the way Pedro made them.

removing the gearbox from the car & lubricating the mechanism makes the most difference.

it's 'free' in respect to the fact that no parts are used, but it's 3-4hrs work to do

it won't ever beas light as a hydraulic unit, but if the cable is free running - it's 90% of the way there.

after i just got my ibiza, the clutch was sticking in first gear and fine through the rest.

Driving along the road one, clutch went in and never came out again. AA came out, the pin that pushes the fork, which dis-engages the plates snapped.

New gear box and it was sorted.
