I'm looking into how difficult it would be to retrofit a USB interface to the stock stereo on a 2011 Sportrider.
The stereo fitted is what I believe to be the basic spec, with column controls, but no bluetooth and no USB or ipod features. There is a single AUX in on the switch panel ahead of the gearshift, but nothing in the roof of the cubby below the heater controls.
I've read a few old threads on the topic, and I believe all I need is the following:
a MDI interface box
a connecting cable from the interface box to the back of the existing stereo
a trim panel to replace the one in the cubby.
Is this correct? Will the stereo need a talking to with VAG-COM afterwards, or will it realize it's newfound capabilities automatically?
Can anyone confirm the part numbers for any of the above, I can see 3 different numbers for the mdi box: 6J0035342B C or D - will any/all work? or is it specific to certain radio hardware?
Am I missing anything here?
