Hi, Getting a new head unit for crimbo. Something half decent, Alpine/Sony around £150, anyway is there anything I need to look out for to ensure I can still use the steering wheel controls on the FR? I do like them! And with most stereos will I need a VW wiring conversion kit? And how hard is it to remove the old standard shitty unit? Cheers very much and happy xmas for a few weeks time.

if you get the same head unit as mine:D (alpine CDE-9882RI) pick below then you need to get a Skoda steering wheel interface and your sorted. (Dunno part number or where to get it audio fitters did it for me )

try searching mate, this topic has been covered quite a bit recently. short answer is yes, you should be able to find an adaptor for steering wheel controls

I have the steering controls converter for the Alpine. Bought from Car audio direct and taken out of my now sold Ibiza FR. About £40 all in new and only used for about a month. Drop me £20 and its yours.

when fitting a stereo do you need any adaptors or will it fit straight in?
