does my 51 plate ibiza cupra have a coded stereo as i am about to move the battery in the boot but don't want to disconnect it if my stereo is going to go into safe mode!

Im pretty sure it doesnt. As I have all the manuals and theres no mention of a code. Plus theres no need for a code, as it's not the easiest radio in the world to steal, and its certinly not going to fit in some knobs chavved up corsa.
