Stepper motor question

In my 1.6L leon I've recently noticed that when in idle, the car starts to "shake" a bit like it's gonna turn off, but it doesn't as when this happens the revs go higher (like from 0.8 to 1 - 1.2 RPM) and it stays ok for a couple of minutes then it starts all over again ,also, when I change gears and hit the petrol pedal the car doesn't react instantly , a second (roughly) passes from when i hit the pedal till it reacts ... i had it checked in a garage and the guy (after looking at the car for 30 seconds) said I need a new stepper motor at the price of 400 euros

after going over some threads here, i have a couple of questions , can you "clean" a stepper motor ?
can you think of something else that might be doing this ?
if i do need a stepper motor, where can i get one at a good price ? (it's a 1.6L 2002 leon)

My guess would be he means the throttle body. Didn't know you could get the stepper separately.

Depends on what's wrong, really. The stepper is brushless, meaning there's no obvious item that would need cleaning. About the only thing I can think of is if there's a position sensor involved (and there almost certainly is), then if it's optical (a led shining through a coded ring) then maybe that could be cleaed.
