Hi,

Have noticed the steering wheel shaking left to right. Most of the time when braking. I have recently upgraded to 18s but to be honest it was doing it with the standard wheels too. Any ideas?

How hard do you brake ???

Is it only hard or soft braking or all the time ???

Warped disks (very unlikely as its very hard to do!!!) or Heat-Spotted disks, Bearings going (but you should hear that as well) or loose.

Could also be the polly-bushes worn, but you should get it under power as well as braking....

It used to happen a lot when i had the standard wheels on. For example when accelerating on the motorway it was really bad. But its not as much with the 18's on. But still bad under heavy braking.

The car just doesnt stop as good as it used to. But looking at the front discs/pads they seem fine.

A slight warping of the discs can cause this, if the problem only happens under breaking.

Also get the wheels balanced properly. It should have been done when you bought the new wheels, but definitely get it done again.
