Steering wheel controls volume buttons

Hi all,

I've been registered here for a few years and drive a lovely Y plate Toledo, which still is doing my quite nicely. However I recently purchased my GF and I a nw (55) plate Leon TDI, which I love.

1 issue I have with it though is that the volume controls on the steering wheel have become worn, all of the matt black covering has worn off and at night time the red LED's underneath are very bright and off putting when driving.

Is there anyway i can replace the controls area of the steering wheel back to new spec. If so can i do this myself? I cannot source the parts anywhere nor the instructions on how to change them.

Really appreciate any help.

Don't know about the parts but as a temporary measure you could turn off the illumination so they aren't distracting on a night.

If you press the top/outer buttons at the same time this should switch it off.

Thanks,

While that won't solve the issue, it certainly will make it less annoying. Many thanks.

On another note, the back speakers sound terrible. So I don't have to take the door cards off twice I don't suppose you know the size of both sets of speakers in the front and back so i can purchase some replacements.

Many thanks for your help.
