starting problems

wondering if you guys can help, my car has a problem starting it doesnt do it all the time about once every week or two and only when its really cold. ive put a brand new battery on it two weeks ago and it hasnt done it till today, it turns over but wont catch i put a jump pack on and it still wouldnt start! but it started when we bump started it but only after a couple of goes. ive had the alternater checked twice by two different garages who both said the alternater was charging very well the best it can so it cant be that or the new battery so im stumped. any help would be great. cheers adam

dont think its the starter as it turns over ok just doesnt catch. not coil packs as i have just replaced them. just read a thread on the leon section and there was something about a temp guage sender any thoughts on this being the problem? anyone had this problem before?

yes me... i have had 2 problems before with my car not starting all the time. My problems were both sensors...

most probably the temp gauge sensor. Watch you dont ruin your starter motor by over turning like i did. Mine grinds now every second time i start my car.
